One of the favorite business book that I’ve read was Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I remembered when I first read the book, I could not put it down.

One thing that Robert Kiyosaki mentioned in his book, one of the best ways to achieve financial independence is to start your own business.

A lot of people may not be comfortable starting their own conventional business. The risk of failing is very high and the capital investment can be equally big as well.

That does not mean we are out of option. With the new media of the internet, there are many opportunity to start your own online home based business.

The challenge is which one to choose and how to get started. Most of the people I know that ventured into online business chose the affiliate marketing route.

When you are an affiliate, you are basically and online marketing agent for a merchant. You get paid a predetermined commission from the merchant when you make a sale.

I started my online business with affiliate marketing also. Just like in any online business, the biggest challenge is traffic generation.

Is Wealthy Affiliate University a Scam?

When I was surfing the web the other day, I can across a few web site with the title “Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam?”. That got my interest and I was wandering why people ask that question.

I guess a lot of us have been scammed before, either on or off the net. So it is understandable we are a bit cautious when it comes to web opportunities.

What is the meaning of the word “Scam”?

I’ve decided to do some research on it. According to Wikipedia, the work scam is associated with Fraud – a deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual. That’s interesting…

If Wealthy Affiliate is a scam, then Kyle and Carson (the founder of Wealthy Affiliate) main purpose of setting up WA is to deceive people for their personal gain.

How much would it cost to setup, maintain and operate a scam web site like Wealthy Affiliate University?

With the amount of services such as forum, content, Web 2.0, hosting, research tool, Clickbank analysis, job posting, web site creator, word processing application, link cloaking, link redirects etc, my guess is they would have invested in excess of 1 million US dollar.

The amount might be much higher than that because the biggest expenses in having such a complex web site with numerous servers, codes, software, firewalls, anti virus, data security, hack prevention etc is in the Operational Costs.

Wealthy Affiliate has been around for more than 2 years. We can just try adding up the dough.

If Kyle and Carson Wealthy Affiliate University is a scam…it is a pretty expensive and tedious operation to setup. But I wouldn’t want to make any judgment.

Going Back To School To Learn and New Skill

One thing that I really like about Wealthy Affiliate University is its always changing and evolving. The last advancement in the members’ area is the WA Gold. The WA Gold is a platform where you can give Gold Credits to fellow members that had published some of their work in Wealthy Affiliate. The accumulated Gold Credits can be exchanged for cash. It’s a pretty interesting offering.
